not to be passed over....a fine rape on aerowalk from the man who has taught me more about how to play this map than anyone else. this is pure fun; sparky has played more competitive games on aerowalk of course....yet it is still enjoyable to check out his movement skills on aerowalk, much as many enjoy locktar or jarrex on dm2; and bear in mind sparky doesn't use motion-oriented scripts. This is a demo for manly men who want to see some non-stop rampaging.

this map just seems to be more inviting to be ran circles around. nothing untowardly out of the ordinary in dirtbox's jumps, although they are quite consistent. also, they aren't just "rj every time" but i saw a number of smart, repeated routes, through healthboxes and such.
obviously the aussies have had some time playing this map and have developed a number of techniques on it.
suffice it to say when you take a genius map liek aerowalk, and a genius player like dirtbox, well, the result is quite satisfactory :)

(something "untowardly out of the ordinary" would be insane's backward's escape from zhin on dm2, or locktar's grenade-kill antics and running dm2 backwards, etc; although dirtbox has an interesting gl kill in this demo too :)

Great game! Sure, the opponent seems quite "newbieish", at least towards this map, but still dirtbox plays smoother than ever in this demo. Dirtbox vs mescon would prolly never happen, but if it would, ?t would be a heck of a game. Imo dirtbox plays a smarter game of aerowalk than mescon, but I think that a not too rusty mescon has a bit sharper aim, especially with the shaft, than dirtbox. But then again, this would probably never happen. The demo is highly recommended though. Btw anyone who knows how old this is?

This is a great demo, I really enjoyed watching it. You don't see any more dm4/6 demos that make you sit up and take notice because the maps have been played out.
IMO there would be a lot more life in qw-duelling if people adopted some different maps. On this evidence there's a lot of life in aerowalk and the prime candidate to be dropped to make room for it would be dm2. In the qh-lan final dag and griffin were winning incredibly boring games on dm2 with the "1-0 gg cu at 200/100 room tactic."
Big thumbs up to this demo.

I doubt that, gejfus =B-? But still, some of the "real pro?s" could probably be very good at it with some practice. Too bad griffin refuses to play aerowalk though, and dag doesn?t play at all anymore, I think?

rev said it all "In the qh-lan final dag and griffin were winning incredibly boring games on dm2 with the "1-0 gg cu at 200/100 room tactic"
that is why it's much better to whatch Locktar demos than Dag's. Locktar might not be the best, but he sure have the trully qw "jump into it" spirit and just those boring CS tatics, that might win the match (like dag does), but they're just making QW die, killing the emotion.
And yes, Aerowalk rox. I have nothing against DM2, and in my opinion, it might continue to be a regula dueal map, but I'm totally with those that think that AERO should be considerated a reg map too

hMM Id love to see mescon! vs dirtbox on aero. And drejfus no dag/griffin would need around 2 weeks before they could challenge dirtbox/mescon! on aero imho

I don't blame dag for using "CS tactics" - he wanted to win. If you have a map which rewards CS as heavily as dm2 does, then people will CS. When push came to shove Griffin (about as aggressive a player as there is) also felt the need to sit on a 1 frag lead in 200/100 room. It's the fault of the map, not the players.
If you want to see attacking games of QW, then make maps which reward attacking play. dm4 and dm6 are not too bad in this respect although hardly perfect either. I found the dm4 and dm6 games between dag and griffin very interesting to watch but the dm2 games (and there were lots of them) were quite simply pure crap. It's a bad advert for QW to see people speed rocketjumping to the hidey hole in 200/100 room as soon as they have a 1 frag lead - QW is supposed to be the best fps game around after all.
dm2 ---> out aerowalk ---> in
Or even someone make a new map, one that's set up in such a way that passive play loses games and the player who wins is the one who's prepared to be brave and attack for control of the level.

beginning with the legendary kane/laker dm2 on tgi (as well as the reload/timber game HEHE), CS on dm2 has been quite exciting to watch.
i have seen amasing breaks through a seemingly concrete wall of mh/ra defense.
i have seen escapades that lasted whole minutes, with players running through the level trying to catch/escape being that one first frag (and the half dozen spawn frags that follow it), doubling back, faking, faking a fake move, faking a fake move that was supposed to be a fake in itself, etc... 8)
but yes, 80-90% of most competitive DM2 games are CS :((((
SO maybe aerowalk instead of dm2 is a good idea afterall.. dunno :(... so hard to choose

I think there is a fairly large misconception that aerowalk is played very regularly in Australia.
Whilst it is played more here compared to EU/NA, it isn't played that much competitively. There is just a few of us who do play it every now and then. I play a total of about 1-2 games on aerowalk a MONTH. This month is something out of the ordinary because I have played 4 duels on it (this game against u1 being one of them). This isn't saying I wouldn't mind playing it more though :)
xhrl - I've said it once and I will say it agian... Fwd RJ scripts are for newbies who aren't able to rely on their own skill to rocket jump around :) Real qw players RJ manually.
ApoK - I am not sure what the fuss is about mescon. I watched 1 or 2 demos of him on aerowalk and I wasn't really impressed. He just seemed to add an element of CS spamming to aerowalk against some newbies. Bore. Mescon actually told some people on irc a while ago (i will not name names) that he played me on a server where we both get 70ms (lol) and he beat me (lol). No one in AU/NZ can ping anything under 200ms if it is not in AU or NZ. Infact, if you want a decent aerowalk game then watch me vs my clanmate miyagi... he knows how to play aero :D
Rev - you mention about a custom map that is designed so that passive play loses games... Well I believe aerowalk is exactly that. Any people that I know that play it passively always lose by a lot. You have to play agressively to beable to control the large area of this map. You CAN play passively however its probably not in your best interest.
I am actually going to be in europe for a couple of months at the start of next year. What sort of pings do people get from France/Germany to Scandinavia? My brother lives in Nice in France and I will be staying there a while. Any QW players in Nice?

I must stress well in advance though... I am not going overseas to play quake. I am back packing all around the world for 4 months. I am going to south america, central america, north america, uk, europe, north coast of afrika and south east asia.
So even if I do play quake when I am in europe I won't have touch qw in at least 3 months.

First of all...
1. Reload always has, always will own Dirtbox on Aerowalk. i think Dirtbox has one ONCE (only just) in his life against numerous aerowalk games played against Reload. he comes back out of the woodwork once every 3 - 6 months and still rapes australias best...dirtbox included. Especially on dm4. NO BODY in australia even comes close to RELOAD.
2. Dirtbox..post number 18 is a little naughty. its like your setting up an excuse before you even get to play just incase you dont win. As I mentioned in post number 1, if Reload can stop playing for 6 months at a time as he previously did, and still come back and kick every regular players ass (yourself, Fuzzy, Puglet, etc etc) then you should be able to play on form after 3 months too!

most of us have a vague idea of what makes up a loser. take that idea, multiply it by ten thousand, and you will have an approximate understanding of how much a loser #19 is.

Dirtbox - the French internet sucks, I think, and there are very few players in France.
To make it even worse for you, Nice is right down south and all the QW servers are in the UK/Netherlands/Scandinavia/Germany. :)

lol comment 19...
for starters... I have only ever played reload TWICE on aerowalk in my life and he only beat me ONE of those times. he REFUSES to play it. so get some clues and shut the fuck up. I dont even know why you bother talking about reload. everyone knows he is the law in AU and no one ever disputes it. not even me. so why bother?
Secondly... regular players like pugley and fuzz? neither of them are regular players and havn't been for quite some time.
thirdly there is very little chance I will be playing any games the entire time i am overseas. why waste a holiday on quake. The only reason I will be playing quake is if i have run out of money and have nothing else to do whilst in france and judging by comment 21 even that won't happen.

Ehm, who the hell said Ive ever played against you? Im sure I havent played you ever, so whoever told you that I said Ive played you must either be lying or have missunderstood me. The only thing I can remember is when I told someone it would be cool to play against you, but that I wasn't sure wether or not I would win. I said that a server on 70ms would be acceptable if both of us had it. After that, I spammed "BUT ILL WIN!!" and a heck of a load of smileys, so whoever took it seriously must be plain gay.
I have never claimed to be a top-notch player on aerowalk, but if (some) people enjoy watching me on aerowalk, thats fine and none of my business.

How can you dare say "DM2 out" - dm2 is one of the best maps out there DM2>*
