It?s maybe just a friendly game, but the entertainment-value in it is not to be underestimated.
It reminds me of striker vs griffin at dm4 from the QHlan4 duel-tournament, which I still consider as one of the best dm4-games i?ve ever seen, although griffin lost it.

He did drop some games to mutilator but nobody else did anything significant against him (apart from lose) :) and he was sucking on Saturday when he lost those anyway, needed time to get used to LAN ping/new mousepad :P

lol are you kidding me? koopa did not beat everyone on dm4, he won some games becouse he played 24/7 on qhlan.. In fact, he was to slow for europe. Everyone on QHlan, except the brittish and irsih people who was'nt even there, though that he was nothing but average plus, and i guess that showed off in the compo..

Check out the Cepet vs Koopa games from QHLAN5 if you want to see Koopa lose. Koopa loses both, one by a rather sizable magin (30 frags or so?). Who is Cepet by the way?

phil: he played alot more then ~23 maps on qhlan, but theres just a pinch of demos up at the moment

most of the prac. games where one player playing agressive, and the other one playing very defensive (guess who?). As we all know, it's quite easy to beat an agressive player if you're playing defensive. if you check koopa-mrlame demos he barely did that. ;)

I'm not trying to "bash him". but I think it was a very strong factor..

cepet wasn't the interceptor, it was a friend of Koopa's and I don't think he was at the lan at all. I haven't watched the demos but I doubt you can take them too seriously, he's been playing online recently with speedhacks and aimbots (in a non-lame way, just for fun...)

However to tell the truth...there were more games than just Phil's where Koopa loses. I don't know if they got saved or not but try fishx2!! vs. hans (mutilator). However as I said, those were from the Saturday and you can't walk straight from ISDN ---> LAN with a new mousepad and own from the word go, you need a bit of time. Oh and I think his monitor was turned off. :)

Still...it's a bit lame to invent a load of games where he lost just to bash him, as certain people on here have been doing....

I watched a bunch of Koopa-games, and like rev said, he didn?t play very well at first, he seemed a bit rusty, but he got better the longer the LAN went on.
And muti, I seriously doubt you would be anywhere near beating Koopa if you were in his shoes and the other way around.

And anyway, Koopa is a one-map-only-player, like many others in the QHlan5 1on1-tourney was.

Ping is something you get used to afer a short while, its not like you cant aim becouse you have 13ms... And yes, i've had 14ms on swedish servers for 0,5years and 14ms in europe for one year.... does it really matter? cant se how.. It doesnt matter what mouse you have, since it takes 5 hours to get fully used to a new mouse, and i think many people can witness that koopa played 24/7 on qhlan. He was a good player indeed, but he was far from the best player i've ever played..

cepet is a swede, they all seem to get 13ms to anywhere. I don't know if the qhlan games you saw are legit but he's been playing a lot of joke games online with koopa recently with aimbots and speedhacks. I don't know if he did there but if he didn't, well pld cepet :)

well i have nothing personal against koopa, but we've all heard that hes shaft never went below 40%, and that he would beat griffin and dag easy if he came to qhlan, and when i came to qhlan it felt like he did'nt live up to his expectations becouse there was alot of people who defeated him. Still, many people from Ireland and uk who was'nt even there states that he won almost every game..

Get used to LAN ping? wtf? You instantly play better on LAN, not "take time to get used to it". As soon as i play on the LAN im instantly a better aimer. If you increase ping, thats the only time you need to get used to it. New mouse pad? A mouse might take adjusting to but not a pad.

So this irish isdn player who has spent (wasted?) years playing cs, quake3 and starcraft actually beat some of these 14pinger 24/7 qw only robots? thats not too bad if you ask me.

mousepads etc and stuff like that is bullshit excuses, and ping.. lol... to whine on the ping when it is 14 ms.. 14 ms is 14 ms... on LANs it is SKILL only that shows off.. no matter what you are used to.. its still fair... and i remember someone said koopa was a LAN-player... anyway i dont know how much koopa cares about this talking anyway... he seemed like a nice dude and played good.... but i have to agree with muti... there were lots of people better then him on the LAN, he lost to phantasy in winners bracket i think and to striker in loosers bracket.. and thats it.. that is where it shows imo... no matter what mousepads etc

At no point did I say "Koopa got knocked out of 1on1 tourney because of (insert lame excuse here.) Nobody's doing any "whining," least of all the player himself. If anyone thinks I meant this, then I take it back. He got knocked out because he sucked badly on dm2, lost practically all his games there, and wasn't great on dm6. He still came 6th/7th or whatever which was hardly bad and didn't drop a game on his strong map.

If anyone wants to write anything else, please make it something vaguely interesting, this thread is extremely dull. Plus I doubt Koopa would want me to exchange rubbishy posts with you people, I know he hates this sort of crap, so I will just stfu now. :) I made the mistake of getting sucked in because people were just lying and saying he lost to a load of guys that he didn't. Lesson learned, in the future I won't take the bait. :)

The point is not that koopa sucks but that qhlan fetures some off the best duelers in the world in qw. If koopa lost some games even on his best map, it not suprising at all. This was hist first qhlan, and many players he met has been on several qhlan before and have the oportunety to practice against the best. I guess he doesnt have the opportunety to face players like griffin, dag, xalibur, mutilator in his reagular playing from irland.

And whats bad about him playing 24/7 at the lan? If he first take the time to travel all the way to a qw lan in sweden, then of course he would play as much as possible, u would ppr not find a better place/lan to practive QW that qhlan is.

charles bronson is great, been listing to theyr 10" almost every day since i fixed my turntable some months ago. Never had the oportunety to see them live though :(. A lot of my friends like them too, and our new band will ppr have some charles bronson influences if we just can get our buts in action and start playing. I dont want to bring back up the argument but this ping thing is bullshit. Griffin is an exception, just about every other player who finished top 10 has a lan or very low ping. The russians are basically better than everyone else at q3 because they play each other on lan the whole time, much more than anyone else. They can't play online, they rarely do well online, but when it comes to lan they are vicious. Yes you do get used to lan after a few hours, but after a few weeks you'd be ALOT better (having access to play good players of course) As far as I can see only players who have very good connections seem to argue otherwise.

and its boring to sort of take away the victory for those who reached far by saying they just won cause they have adsl at home...

I am just saying that the non super low ping guys has a pretty big disadvantage, griffin is just a freak. But basically everyone is super low ping now anyway.
